Desert Color (Arizona Part 1)

My friend, Ben, and I met up to do some camping in Arizona.

Our first destination was the Dragoon Mountains. After we arrived and set up camp I noticed this great view and knew it would make a great sunset shot. I love the layers of silhouettes leading to the horizon.

The next evening I framed up and waited for moonrise. My patience paid off, and I was able to get this image of the moon peeking through the clouds.

That same evening we were treated to a spectacular sunset. These are the types of conditions that photographers dream of. They never last very long though, so you have to be ready and act quickly.

The next place we headed was the mining town of Bisbee. On our way into the town, we stopped at an overlook and took pictures of the old mine through the fence. What drew my interest here was all the textures and cuts that had been dug into the landscape.

At the bottom of the mine pit, there was this pool. It’s amazing how many layers down the bottom is, and it’s interesting to think how long it must have taken to blast and dig all of it away.

Arizona has so many unique textures and vivid colors, I always love visiting there. If you’d like to come along on the trip with us then check out the video below, and stick around for part two. Until then, bye for now.
