My Gear

Photography Gear

I have a fair number of lenses, but I don’t carry all of them with me all the time. I’ll bring them all, but I only put what I think I’ll need in my bag and swap things around depending on the situation.

  • Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera

  • DJI Air 3 drone

  • Really Right Stuff TVC-24L tripod with BH-40 ball head

  • Canon RF 14-35mm f4 L lens

  • Rokinon EF 14mm f2.8 manual lens

  • Canon RF 85mm f2 Macro lens

  • Sigma EF 70-200mm f2.8 Sports lens

Accessories

These are all the various odds and ends that make certain shots possible. The L-bracket stays on the R5 all the time. The lens mount adapter and intervalometer are always in my bag.

  • 3 Legged Thing Ellie universal L-bracket

  • Canon EF-RF Control Ring mount adapter

  • Vello ShutterBoss 4.0 wireless intervalometer/remote shutter release

  • Maven Filters magnetic filter kit

    • Circular polarizer

    • 3, 6, and 10 stop neutral density filters

    • Splash Guard (UV) filter

  • Peak Design Slide strap & Cuff wrist strap

  • And, of course, memory cards and extra batteries

    • ProGrade Digital 512GB CFexpress 2.0 type B memory card

    • Lexar 64GB Professional 2000x UHS-II SDXC memory cards

Cases, Bags, & Pouches

Everything has to go somewhere, right? The way I pack for trips, I keep everything in my Pelican case until I get where I’m going. Then I’ll grab what I need and carry it in one of my backpacks.

  • Pelican 1510 Protector case

  • Shimoda Designs Action X70 backpack

  • Shimoda Designs Explore v2 backpack

  • Shimoda Designs Medium DSLR version 2 Core Unit

  • Shimoda Designs 4-panel Wrap pouch

  • Pelican 0915 memory card case (for cards with pictures/video on them)

  • Think Tank Pocket Rocket memory card carrier (for empty cards)

  • Peak Design Tech Pouch

Video Gear

Currently, I’ve put video making on pause, but after I got the R5, I tried to streamline my video setup, and I was using the EOS R for all my in-the-field recording. I would carry the R outside the bag setup on a separate tripod so it was always ready to go.

  • Canon EF-RF mount adapter

  • Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 APS-C lens

  • SmallRig cage for Canon EOS R
